I made it to California in one piece!! Well, apart from my front bumper. And the warning lights that are on. And the electric windows are broken. And the passenger door lock still doesn't work properly. And I think the roadkill's legacy was cracking my cat converter. But I did it!! Left the car in the Pontiac garage to check out the engine light and Kali and Rhiannon will pick it up a few days later as I will have left for New York. They are going to drive up to San Francisco and anywhere else that they feel like then I'll meet up with them again when the trek ends.
The guy from the garage phoned on the first day of my trek with the repair quote. A little 10 dollar vacuum hose in the engine was cracked, making it run rich, which was slowly clogging the cat converter and the intake manifold was cracked. To fix those, the windows and the lock would be $3000. Don't remember exactly what I said but he laughed as I used a mixture of my most colourful Northern Irish and American phrases thanking him for his time and politely declining his $3000 repairs on a $1000 car.

I don't do things by halves. When I arrived back in Los Angeles I had no idea where the car was or how to get it. After 1869 miles in the car the girls changed their plans and flew to Australia instead. They had left the car at the hostel they were staying at but they weren't completely sure of the name or where it was. They also said they got pulled over by the cops for something to do with a light and that it over heated and broke down a few times as well. After a hunt around and some arguing with hostel staff when we actually found it, I was back on the road!! However, the driver's window was now jammed about an inch open and the wind was making a shocking racket, as well as some random plastic hanging from the front which I couldn't be bothered to remove. One of the keys had gone missing and Kali and Rhiannon had stuck a sticker on the back saying "I'm not a bitch, I am THE bitch!" Thanks girls, I couldn't agree more and the car is now officially christened!! Pennsylvania or bust!!
