The infamous Shelby County, Tennessee. This is where things started to go badly wrong. Earlier in the day, soon after entering Tennessee, the warning light came on for the battery or alternator so I stopped at a backwoods mechanic to get it checked out. He admitted that though he didn't know why the light was on, the battery and alternator were both good and the car would get to Dallas no problems. Good enough, onwards!! Cruising through Shelby County somewhere on the I40 I saw a sight in my rear view mirror every driver fears, cops wanting me to pull over. Apparently he had caught me on radar doing 86mph in a 65mph. Ooops!! I do remember accidentally going that fast when I was thinking about the battery warning light and I did slow down straight away, but too late I guess. My first speeding ticket, I'm so proud. Thanks Trooper A Sherron!! (You git)
